Seeking Direction

The sunrise was a sight to see in the early morning hours when all was quiet. Water from the lake sparkled as light shined on the ripples. It was a view of God’s creation in all its glory and a perfect time to spend with Him.

The Psalmist often spoke about spending time with the Lord in the mornings.O Lord in the morning you hear my voice.” (Psalm 5:3 ESV). Time with the Lord is different for us according to our stage of life. Young moms tend to read their Bible in the evenings after the babies are asleep. Empty nesters may find mornings the best time. For me, I have always loved doing Bible Study and prayer in the early mornings to jump-start my day. It is so quiet and peaceful then, and not only does God hear my voice, but I hear His as He speaks through His word.

Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,

for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go,

for to you I lift up my soul.

Psalm 143:8 (ESV)

Seeking the assurance of God’s love in the mornings gives confidence throughout the day that no matter what happens, we can know God is on our side with an everlasting love. He gives direction as we look to Him with a heart that is seeking His will and way. God’s guidance teaches us the path and virtues He desires of His people. We are His people as we trust and believe Him for eternal life.

Are you seeking direction? Pray the following Psalm in the early morning hours, or anytime it is quiet, and listen for where God leads.

Make me to know your ways, O Lord;

Teach me your paths.

Lead me in your truth and teach me;

For you are the God of my salvation

For you I wait all the day long.

Psalm 25:4-5 (ESV)
