Roadblocks Are Not Final

In the future, when your children ask their fathers, ‘what is the meaning of these stones:’ you should tell your children, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’ For the Lord, your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed over, just as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed over. This is so that all the people of the earth may know that the Lord’s hand is mighty, and so that you may always fear (be in awe of) the Lord your God.” (Joshua 4:22-24 HCSB)

When we come upon an obstacle, what do we do? Our tendency is to stop and question.

Why has this happened? What do I do now? How do I get around this difficulty? But sometimes God just wants us to dip our toes in the water and forge ahead with faith that He will make a way.

Can you imagine the fear the children of Israel experienced when they came upon the Red Sea, or the concern they had when they approached the Jordan River? But in both scenarios, God had a plan. He had gone before them to prepare the way. He parted the Red Sea and dried up the Jordan River so the people could cross on dry land. God removed the obstacles to reveal His power so the people would be in awe of who He is and what He did then and can do now. He delivered them from danger at the Red Sea. He made a way for them to crossover at the Jordan River. Nothing is too difficult for Him.

When we experience an obstacle to what we believe is God’s plan, rather than asking why, forge ahead by faith trusting God to make a way where there seems to be no way. Trust in the mighty hand of God. If He has placed the roadblock before you, He will either redirect you or remove the obstacle. God will always make a way for you. Great is His faithfulness to those who are in Christ Jesus. Trust Him in all things, remember His power to save, and share His goodness with generations to follow.

Heavenly Father, I acknowledge your faithfulness and plan as I seek to do your will. In every obstacle I face, I trust you Lord to give me direction because I know you will make a way for me. Thank you for guiding me by your Spirit. Amen.
